A third top-three finish in five years as 2286 Squadron takes second place across the Wing!
2286 (Coventry Arden) Squadron is incredibly proud to announce a fantastic second-place finish in the Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Competition, recognising the highest number of cadet completions across all levels of the Award from April 2024 to 2025.
This annual competition highlights the dedication of cadets and staff in delivering and completing the DofE Award scheme, and we’re delighted that the hard work of our team has once again been recognised. With cadets achieving awards at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, this success reflects both the commitment of our young people and the support from our Squadron’s staff and volunteers. The Squadron also undertakes the RAFAC-only Blue level of the programme, although this isn't taken into consideration for this Award.

This marks our third top-three finish in the last five years—including winning the title in 2022—and we’re proud to remain one of the Wing’s most consistent performers in this area of personal development.
“DofE is a key part of what we offer at 2286,” said Squadron Officer Commanding Flt Lt Julie Seymour. “It gives our cadets the opportunity to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and develop real-world skills. We’re incredibly proud of every cadet who completed an award this year—this result is down to their perseverance and enthusiasm.”
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award continues to be a cornerstone of the RAF Air Cadets programme, building resilience, leadership, and service. We look forward to supporting even more cadets as they begin their DofE journey in the year ahead.
