Turning Lemons Into Lemonade

As the year started, with us at Canley ARC instead of our home, we could have eased up, taken a break, let things slip. However that is not how Team 2286 roll. We immediately launched into an action packed training programme, determined it was business as usual. The month saw us starting our music journey, with drumming lessons and an investment into equipment. This is part of a 2 year plan which will hopefully see us with a Squadron band. This has brought our plan forward, so as our heading says "turning lemons into lemonade".
The month also saw us run a Youth First Aid course. These are always important to us, as we think it is one of the most useful skills to have, and we have had cadets and staff save lives with the knowledge this training has given.

February saw us run the postponed Christmas Party with pizza and a serious amount of noise.

Our main focus for February was Space, with lots of new badges added to brassards. Space is a particular favourite of the Squadron, and so it was particularly exciting in March when FS Ryan and Sgt Myles achieved their Gold Space badges.

One of our targets for this year was to increase our STEM engagement. March therefore saw a STEM challenge: to design and build a house (with specific requirements) to survive an earthquake. No one achieved the objective, but they learnt a lot from the challenge.

It's certainly been a difficult start to the year, with lots of logistical challenges. However we have certainly made the best of it. Resilience, grit and a sense of humour have definately pulled us through. Thank you to everyone for bearing with us and hopefully we will be back home soon.
For those interested in joining our Squadron, please reach out via email. We will be having an Open Evening in July so keep your eye out for that. We look forward to welcoming new faces to our community.
