Cadets of 2286 Squadron swapped their parade shoes for skates as they hit the ice at Planet Ice Coventry, enjoying a fantastic evening of fun and teamwork at the first Mess Committee event of 2025.
With a mix of excitement and a few wobbles, cadets, staff, and committee members embraced the challenge, whether it was their first time on the ice or a chance to show off their skating skills. From gliding effortlessly to some impressive recoveries, the rink was full of laughter and encouragement as cadets supported each other throughout the evening.
The event, organised by the Squadron’s Mess Committee, provided a great opportunity for cadets to socialise and strengthen friendships outside of the usual parade nights. Designed to bring the Squadron together through social activities, the Mess Committee ensures cadets have the chance to relax, bond, and enjoy new experiences alongside their training.

Fg Off Sheikh, leading the event, shared: "It was brilliant to see cadets enjoying themselves and looking out for each other, whether lending a hand to a friend or just sharing plenty of laughter. The Mess Committee has done a fantastic job putting together a fun and inclusive event, and we’re all looking forward to the next one.”
With many more activities planned for the year, 2286 Squadron continues to offer cadets opportunities to challenge themselves, make lasting friendships, and create unforgettable memories. Keep an eye out for what’s coming next!
