Members of 2286 (Coventry Arden) Squadron recently had the opportunity to take part in an exclusive HADO training session with the England team at HADO UK in Coventry. This cutting-edge, augmented reality (AR) sport—described as a high-energy mix of dodgeball and video gaming—gave cadets the chance to hone their teamwork, strategy, and reflexes in a fast-paced environment.
The session was a huge success, marking an exciting milestone for 2286 Squadron as it launched its official eSports team, The Arden Elephants. With eSports continuing to grow within the RAF Air Cadets, the squadron is looking ahead to a thrilling 2025 full of opportunities for competition, training, and development in this emerging field.
Cadet Sergeant Kynan French, one of the participants in the session, shared his enthusiasm for the experience:
“It was incredible to learn from the England team and experience the intensity of competitive HADO. The session really challenged us to think tactically and work as a team, and I can’t wait to see where we can take The Arden Elephants next!”
With a blend of physical agility, digital awareness, and teamwork, HADO is just one of the many ways RAF Air Cadets are embracing modern technology and innovation. As the Squadron builds its eSports presence, cadets can look forward to further training, competitions, and leadership opportunities within the digital arena.
